Scharner set to quit Wigan
Wigan midfielder Paul Scharner will leave the DW Stadium when his contract expires in the summer - and he wants to stay in the Premier League.
Scharner came off the bench in yesterday's 2-2 draw against Hull with 'THANX' dyed into his hair, before providing the assist for Steven Gohouri's late equaliser.
Afterwards the 30-year-old Austrian said it would be his last home game for Latics, who he joined in 2006.
"This was the last game at the DW Stadium for me, that's true - as a Wigan player," Scharner told BBC Radio Manchester.
"Next season, I am looking for a midfield position but it's too early to say at which club. I am looking to stay in the Premier League."
He continued: "I have lots of memories. I think we have to talk for another 30 minutes to cover all the stuff.
"First of all I have to say thank you to the chairman of Wigan Athletic for giving me the chance to play in the Premier League.
"And another thank you to the supporters. They created a nice song for me. It was very enjoyable and I go home with tears in my eyes."
Stoke have previously expressed an interest in Scharner and will be keen again, but there is likely to be a queue of suitors for the maverick midfielder
