Bayern Munich have singled out Everton’s Leighton Baines as their number one target in January, reports from England suggest.
Bayern have been looking to fill their weak left-back spot for quite a while and they have sent scouts to watch Baines at Everton’s last two home games against West Brom and Wigan.
Bayern chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge revealed signing a left-back was a priority in January.
“We want a left-back, and we intend to sign one in the January transfer window.
”We are ready to buy a new player for this side of our defence this winter, but he must be of the highest quality.”
Bayern scouts were impressed with what they’ve seen from Baines this season and the Bavarians are ready to make an official bid for the England international.
They are unlikely to get him cheap, however, after Everton tied him down to a five-year contract and it is believed they will have to offer at least £10 million in order to get their man.
