Kaka misses Brazil friendlies
Real Madrid playmaker Kaka has been ruled out of Brazil’s upcoming friendlies against Gabon and Egypt.
The 29-year-old is nursing a muscular problem which saw him miss Wednesday’s Champions League match against Lyon and will rule him out of Sunday’s La Liga match against Osasuna.
Real manager Jose Mourinho said he hoped the Brazilian would continue to work on regaining full fitness.
“Kaka will not be able to play tomorrow and he won’t be able to go with Brazil,” Mourinho told a news conference ahead of Real’s La Liga match at home to Osasuna.
“He wouldn’t have time to recover. It’s an injury that has nothing to do with the serious problems of the past.”
“It’s a small injury typical of those that happen every season and he’s going to stay here 15 days to recover.”
Kaka has regained his place in the Real squad recently and put in some impressive performances, after a string of injury problems blighted last season.
“I’m not concerned that this is a repeat of any of the past problems at all,” Mourinho said.
The news will come as a major blow to the midfielder, who was hoping to reclaim his place in the national team’s setup.
The former AC Milan midfielder has not featured for his country since the World Cup finals in South Africa after a 2-1 defeat against the Netherlands.
Brazil take on Gabon in Libreville on November 10, while the match against Egypt will be played four days later in the Qatari city of Doha.
