The Daily Mirror 'understand' that Manchester United have contacted Aston Villa about Ashley Young, who would of course be an excellent long-term replacement for Ryan Giggs. Liverpool are also said to be interested but they will have sod all chance if the other team in red fancies the some-time England international.
Gerard Houllier did little to suggest that Young will stay at Villa, saying: "In January the best clubs keep their best players but you never know if someone comes with crazy money. We hope to keep him and he knows that the club's will is to keep him."
